The Federal awards are divided into 5 families, that is Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara, Darjah Yang Maha Mulia Setia Mahkota Malaysia, Darjah Yang Amat Dihormati Setia Diraja, Darjah Bakti and Darjah Yang Mulia Jasa Negara. Each family has its own statute and if an individual possesses more than one award from the same family he is allowed to wear only one, that is, the highest ranking award from the same family.
Federal Awards According to Family
There are five ranks and one medal under this family of awards. These awards are bestowed through the Statutes of Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara- L.N. 238 dated 25 August and Supplementary Statutes Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara- L.N. 219 dated 25 August 1960 (for Pingat Pangkuan Negara-PPN). The awards grouped under this family are in order of rank, as follows:-
(i)First rank:Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SMN).
(ii)Second rank:Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN).
(iii)Third rank:Johan Mangku Negara (JMN).
(iv)Fourth rank:Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN).
(v)Fifth rank:Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN).
(vi)Sixth rank:Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN). "
OK. Now I only realized that the PPN (Pingat Pangkuan Negara) he received on year 2000 was the 6th rank among that family. After 8 years, which is in 2008, he received AMN (Ahli Mangku Negara).
Both awards were given by DYMM (Duli Yang Maha Mulia) Yang Di-Pertuan Agong (our King) in year 2000 and 2008.
There was a story behind when he got his PPN. Initially when the form was submitted by A (chairman of TT) claimed that he put as "AMN" but its then change to "PPN" by B (chairman of Perlis state that time). However B then claimed the other way. But from the way how A treat his ppl, I guess A is the liar.
Anyhow, I guess we should thank A. Bcoz of that PPN, he managed to get AMN agian..I guess not everyone can have the chance to enter Istana Negara even once and he been there twice.
THANKS A LOT to this blardy person for many things.
Found some info regarding the naming from this page:
A recipient who has more than one order, decoration or medal from the same family may use the initials of the orders, decorations or medals after his name. For example, if a recipient was conferred the A.M.N. and then the K.M.N., followed by the P.M.N. which carries the title “Tan Sri”, the initials for these three orders and decorations may be used after his name even though all of them are from the same family :
Tan Sri Mohamad bin Latif P.M.N., K.M.N., A.M.N."
I guess his name should be "Lai Thin Sang A.M.N., P.P.N."
I miss out the chance to attend the award given ceremony at Istana Negara in 2008. If you had this kind of chance, please attend eventhough the dress like Baju Kebaya is so expensive. I understand alot of things can be bought by using $$. However, not everyone can have the chance to attend this kind of award or even enter the Negara Istana. So please go, if you have the chance.
